Did you get an IRS Notice?

If yes, do not panic it is not the end of the world, but you do need to respond. A common mistake that taxpayers make is that they won’t open their mail.   It’s as if they think the issue will resolve itself.

If the IRS notice says you owe taxes, you generally have 30days to respond to an IRS notice, so there's no reason to ignore it. Always check which tax year the notice relates to. Do not assume that it relates to your most recent tax return. Follow the instructions. It may request more information or ask a specific question. If it's a minor issue and you are confident of the facts, you can respond to the notice yourself. But sometimes, you may need to seek professional help.

The worst thing to do, however, is to ignore IRS mail - even if you disagree. If you in fact owe setting up a resolution would be the best way to keep the IRS off your back.

A "Resolution" can mean:

- Full payment

- An affordable payment plan that is based on your ability to pay.

- Removal of penalties, Offer in Compromise & more.

Be sure to open your IRS mail right away and then set up are solution to stop the IRS computer from taking lien or levy action.
